All around was frozen ground
Hard ground and frozen root
Everyday another greenless gray
When we cannot seem to
Stand a moment more
Time takes over and breaks the bars
April and Easter free us all
Raining down in the clean rain
Trumpeting as jonquil play
Breathing out from winter’s muffle.
Robbins quietly appear signaling
To each other and to us
Make nests from winter’s leftovers
Fill with hungry young
All around the green earth charms
Spring holds us in mother arms
Birthed anew in awe we rise
In awe our spirits rise.
