Cut and chopped it falls for us
blessed by the builder’s plan
in Noah’s boat, in Aaron’s rod,
we see the Son of Man…
In manger bed and boyhood hands
it served our savior’s will
to feed his needs and then the world
through acts he would fulfill…
All good came from that first tree
when sin and death were born
God knew the pain it all would cost
to feel his body torn…
And so the wood became a cross
to bear our acts of shame
to call the blind, the mute, the bound,
the twisted bent and lame…
We see it now on Friday Good
the wood placed far above,
we take our wood to walk with him
in death so blessed by love…
