I see you —
A spot of putrid yellow in
my glorious sea
Of green!
You have crossed my border
Rebellious lawless
Dandelion,
I’ll call you what you are —
WEED!
You are the outcome of bad intent,
Flying in uninvited
On the wind
Over my fence
Through my defense —
Emboldened by
Your natural desire
To live wherever you will —
Consider yourself warned!
I am feeling pesticidal!
Your kind
Is most unwelcome
And unceremoniously extinguished
In this part of town.
You see —
You are not just a plant
Out of place,
You are a stain,
A color pock
On the immaculate face
Of our block, our city
Our nation, our world!
Remember this —
My lawn is
My reflective pool,
And I will not allow what I am
To be disgraced
By the likes of you.
The call is mine!
